YWAM - Australia Reef to Outback

One of the major projects that we are needing to complete before we make the move to Canada is to finish renovating our house. We have been renovating the house for the last three years now, with the intent of making it our family home, but that's all changed with us planning to move to Canada.

Building our internal staircaseThis week our house has been a hive of activity. The builders are starting the work to replace our driveway and also to build the internal staircase. They tell me that by the end of next week we will be able to paint the new stairwell and finally park the car in the garage (once I've cleaned it out).

I wish I could say that's all that needs to happen, but there is still a long list of stuff to do on the house. Here are some of the things that still need doing:

  • Stairwell to Paint
  • 3 x Upstairs Bedrooms to paint
  • Back patio to lay
  • Rear shade-cloth to install
  • Window Hoods to finish
  • Replace the Kitchen Window
  • Replace the Back upstairs door with a window
  • Exterior painting
    • Front wall
    • Back upstairs wall
    • Front Veranda
    • Rear Door
    • Garage Exterior Pickets
    • etc.
  • Lots of Garden Tidy up and landscaping
  • and more ...

You can read more about our house renovations, and our progress on finishing the house over at Renovate Australia, our blog about our house renovations. You can even subscribe to receive updates about our renovation progress on that web-site on the right side of the page. Just enter your e-mail address and you will start to automatically have the updates e-mailed to you as I write them.

As I've been working on the house Tamara has been busily sorting stuff into e-bay, garage sale, shipping and rubbish piles. That has been a huge job already, and we haven't even really started. It will cost close to $1500 per cubic metre to ship stuff to Canada, so we are having to be very selective with what we bring. It hasn't been easy for us, or the kids, as we are having to make some tough choices.
